Local public transport plan Wiesbaden

The local public transport plan (NVP) is the framework plan for the future development of local public transport in the city.

The obligation of the local authorities as public transport authorities to draw up local public transport plans results from the provisions of the Passenger Transport Act (PBefG) and the Local Public Transport Act in Hesse (ÖPNVG Hessen).

The main objectives of the framework plan are

  • Ensuring that the population is adequately served by local public transport services
  • Setting standards for the scope and quality of transport services
  • Consideration of the needs of people with restricted mobility and sensory impairments
  • Recommendations for the further development of public transport

The local transport plan is regularly revised in order to be able to react to changing mobility needs. The aim is to further increase the attractiveness of local public transport and encourage more people to use buses and trains.

The currently valid, now fourth local transport plan for the state capital of Wiesbaden was adopted in 2024 - for the second time in joint development with the local transport plan for the Rheingau-Taunus district.

Further information on the status of the network reform adopted in the local transport plan and the development process of the plan can be found at Wiesbaden works | Wiesbaden local transport plan (opens in a new tab).
