Rhine River Rhinos in the 1st Bundesliga

The Rhine River Rhinos wheelchair basketball team once again competed in the 1st Bundesliga in the 2024/25 season. After winning 65:54 in Wiesbaden, the Rhinos lost 66:60 in Wetzlar. And after the 58:68 in Wiesbaden, they are now out of the playoffs and the season is over.

Out after third playoff semi-final

After a fine win at home in Wiesbaden and a narrow defeat in Wetzlar, it was all to play for for the Rhinos on Sunday, April 13, starting at 4:00 pm. The third and deciding playoff semi-final took place in Wiesbaden and in the end the favorites prevailed 68:58 and after two wins and one loss moved on to the final after all. After a good season, Wiesbaden has now unfortunately been eliminated and all the fans, managers and the team are now taking a break to start the new Bundesliga season in the fall.

Playoffs: victory in home game, defeat in second leg

Record champions RSV Lahn-Dill have started the playoff semi-finals with a defeat. The team from Wetzlar lost 54:65 in the Hesse derby against the Rhine River Rhinos from Wiesbaden in the sports hall at Platz der Deutschen Einheit, allowing the Wiesbaden side to take a step towards the playoff final.

Wiesbaden: Nico Dreimüller (22), Michael Paye (17/1 threes), Mojtaba Kamali (14), Kei Akita (8), Tim Diedrich (2), Jim Palmer (2), Hannah Dodd, Steven Elliott, Nicola Damiano (n.e.), Jonathan McNamara (n.e.).

The second leg took place on Friday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. in Wetzlar. There, the home side narrowly won 66:60 against the Rhinos from Wiesbaden.
