Rhinos in the 1st Bundesliga
The Rhine River Rhinos wheelchair basketball team will once again be competing in the 1st German Wheelchair Basketball League in the 2025/26 season. After finishing the main round in second place in the table, the playoffs now await on May 10 and 16 against Lahn-Dill.
Playoffs against RSV Lahn-Dill
The first semifinal of the playoffs will take place on Sunday, May 10, at 4 p.m. at RSV Lahn-Dill. The return match in Wiesbaden is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, at 5 p.m. The Wiesbaden team defeated the storied Wetzlar squad in their final regular-season game and, as the second-place team facing the third-place team, are not underdogs heading into the semifinals. Head Coach Christoph Huber’s team may be on the verge of securing their first appearance in the German Championship final.
Double matchday for the main round final
The regular season came to a close for the Rhinos with a doubleheader. In their penultimate game, the Wiesbaden wheelchair basketball team traveled to face the Cologne 99ers in a rescheduled match and secured a decisive 86–68 victory. In their final regular-season game, the Rhinos visited the dominant league leaders, the Thuringa Bulls, and suffered a 79–96 defeat. And yet, Wiesbaden finished in second place at the end of the regular season. Now it’s on to the playoffs.
Clear 77:60 home win against Trier
Next up is the final home game of the regular season against the Doneck Dolfins Trier. In the end, the Wiesbaden team didn’t let up and secured a clear 77–60 victory over the Dolphins. With this win, the Rhinos are ready for the final two away games of the regular season on the double-header day.
Clear 80:46 victory at home against Zwickau
The Rhinos’ next match was on Easter Saturday, a home game against RB Zwickau. The Wiesbaden team took the field as clear favorites against the Saxons and aimed to secure their strong position in the standings—currently second place ahead of RSV Lahn-Dill—with another victory. They achieved this impressively with an 80-46 win; the Wiesbaden men and women had the visitors under control at all times and thus secured a clear victory.
