Rhinos in the 1st Bundesliga

The Rhine River Rhinos wheelchair basketball team will once again be competing in the 1st German Wheelchair Basketball League in the 2025/26 season. Following their win in Hanover, the Rhinos now face a home game against Zwickau on Easter Saturday, April 4. A must-win game to defend second place in the table.

Home match against Zwickau

The Rhinos will next take the field on Easter Saturday, April 4, at 5 p.m. for a home game against RB Zwickau. The Wiesbaden team enters the match as the clear favorite against the Saxons and aims to secure its strong position in the standings—currently second place, ahead of RSV Lahn-Dill—with another victory.

Clear victory in the guest match at Hannover United

On Matchday 15, the Rhinos traveled to Hannover United for the return match. With a win against their direct rival for third place, the Rhinos could secure that spot and avoid the heavy favorites, the Thuringa Bulls, in the semifinals of the upcoming playoffs. And that’s exactly what happened. The Rhinos won decisively at Hannover United, 58–41, and now sit in second place in the standings—currently ahead of RSV Lahn-Dill.

Double matchday with victories in Cologne and against Münsterland

On Saturday, March 21, the Rhinos visited the 99ers in Cologne; in the end, the Wiesbaden team won decisively, 72–58, securing points that moved them into third place in the standings. On Sunday, March 22, the team hosted the BBC Münsterland and secured a hard-fought 62–54 victory. But no one is talking about that anymore, because victories were celebrated in Cologne and against Münsterland, keeping the Rhinos firmly in the running for third place.

Final-Four in Frankfurt: Narrow final defeat against Thuringa Bulls

The next highlight followed on Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8, with the final tournament featuring the four best cup teams in Frankfurt.  In the semi-final on Saturday evening, the Rhinos clearly prevailed against RBB München Iguanas with a score of 69:44 and qualified for the final. On Sunday, in the final against league leaders Thuringa Bulls, the match was on a knife edge for a long time. In the end, the league leaders narrowly prevailed with a score of 77:70. A great performance for the team from Wiesbaden.
