From Friday to Sunday, September 5 to 7, well over 600 participants are expected to take part in the German Archery Championships in Wiesbaden.

Shooters will once again determine their German champions in Wiesbaden.

Exactly 617 archers in the disciplines of blank, compound and recurve bow are expected in Wiesbaden from Friday to Sunday, September 5 to 7. Once again, the German Outdoor Championships will be held at the Kleinfeldchen sports complex and on the magnificent bowling green in front of the Kurhaus.

As the international highlight of the season, the World Championships, will be held in Gwangju, South Korea at the same time, some of the best German shooters will be missing this time. All the more reason for other athletes to seize the opportunity and shoot their way to the top.

Well-staffed championships despite simultaneous World Championships

However, despite the absence of the World Championship recurve and compound teams, there are some absolute top-class athletes in the Hessian state capital. For example Charline Schwarz, the 2023 World Team Champion and Olympic bronze medallist in the 2021 team, or Elisa Tartler, who recently came fourth in field archery at the World Games in Chengdu, China. Or squad shooter Maximilian Weckmüller, who last triumphed in Wiesbaden in 2021 against Felix Wieser, who won a year later and also has high hopes this year.

In the compound field, former squad shooters such as Julia Böhnke, Franziska Göppel, Leon Hollas and Sebastian Hamdorf are among the favorites. And of course Ruven Flüß. The 19-year-old had also qualified for the World Championships in Korea, but is unable to attend for study reasons. If he wins, it would not only be this year's double of indoor and outdoor titles, but also his fifth consecutive German Championship title, having celebrated two successes each in the youth and junior classes in the past four years.

Only five of last year's 22 individual champions will not be competing this year, which means that the 17 other defending champions - some of whom will have to switch to a new class in the junior division or from the junior to the active division - are the hunted this year.
