Carol Nachman Prize for Rheumatology 2025
The Carol Nachman Prize and the Carol Nachman Medal for the year 2025 were awarded at a ceremony in City Hall on Friday, May 23. This year's award goes to Prof. Betty A. Diamond, Director of the Institute of Molecular Medicine at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research at Northwell Health in Manhasset, NY.
The Carol Nachman Prize of the State Capital of Wiesbaden for Rheumatology was awarded for the first time 53 years ago and, with prize money of 37,500 euros, is one of the most highly endowed medical prizes in Germany and the world's most highly endowed prize in the field of rheumatology. This year's prize goes to Professor Betty A. Diamond, Director of the Institute of Molecular Medicine at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research at Northwell Health in Manhasset, NY.
The Board of Trustees also chose Professor Dr. Elisabeth Märker-Hermann from Wiesbaden as the winner of the Carol Nachman Medal, which is endowed with 2,500 euros.
On Friday, 23 May, the head of the city council, Dr. Gerhard Obermayr, and Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende awarded the Carol Nachman Prize for Rheumatology of the State Capital of Wiesbaden 2025 during a ceremony in the main ballroom of the town hall.
