Public participation

The draft of the results of the work on municipal heating planning is now available to the public. It includes the target scenario, the heat supply areas and the implementation strategy for municipal heat planning.

This marks the start of the participation phase, during which citizens, associations, companies, and other stakeholders who were not specifically involved in municipal heat planning have the opportunity to submit comments and suggestions.

Based on the analysis of the current situation and potential, the target scenario for a climate-neutral heat supply, the heat supply areas, and the associated action plan were developed. This shows how Wiesbaden can gradually be supplied with climate-neutral heat by 2045 at the latest and which technologies (e.g., district heating, heat pumps, or biomass) and infrastructures should be used as a priority in the respective areas.

The publication of the work results provides a central basis for decision-making on the next steps in the heat transition. Feedback from the participation process will be incorporated into the final heat plan, which will be discussed and decided upon politically after the review has been completed.

The plan can be viewed and comments submitted at the Environmental Agency or online. Comments can be submitted until March 1, 2026.
