Trees in Wiesbaden

Trees are more than just an urban backdrop: They provide shade, improve the microclimate, filter pollutants from the air and help to adapt to climate change. They also provide a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. This makes urban trees indispensable elements of a liveable city.

Cover page of the brochure Trees in Wiesbaden. Urban greenery, habitat, shade provider. Large picture of a green leafy tree on a square in front of a red stone building, people walking under the tree. The logos of the state capital Wiesbaden are also shown.

This publication by the Environment Agency highlights the diverse functions of urban trees - from their role in climate protection to their ecological importance and legal aspects relating to planting and felling. The aim is to sensitize citizens to the value of trees in urban areas and to provide practical advice on how to deal with them.

The brochure provides a compact overview of the positive effects of trees and at the same time explains the applicable regulations - for example, which species are covered by Wiesbaden's tree protection statutes or which distances must be maintained when planting new trees on private property. It also contains practical tips on suitable native deciduous and fruit tree species for home gardens and courtyards.

The brochure is available from the Umweltladen and can be downloaded as a PDF document.

Environmental Shop opening hours: Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 pm to 6 pm.
