On the section of Wörther-See-Straße between Ludwig-Beck-Schule and Kallebad, an innovative exercise and play trail was created as part of the "Social Cohesion Gräselberg" urban development program, which is open to all age groups.

With this project, the Parks Department of the state capital of Wiesbaden has created an inclusive public space that promotes interaction, exercise, and community. The participation of children, young people, and local residents played a decisive role in the development of the concept.

Planning for the new meeting place began as part of the development of the green space, path, and sports concept. In several participatory workshops, residents had the opportunity to contribute their ideas and suggestions for the design of the public space, which were implemented by the Mainz-based landscape architecture firm Bierbaum und Aichele on behalf of the Parks Department of the state capital of Wiesbaden. The total cost of the construction project amounted to approximately €350,000.

The new course was officially opened in December 2024 and offers a wide range of exercise options: a multi-generational swing allows parents and children to play together, while a specially designed seesaw invites young and old to play together. A low-threshold balancing course and a large climbing rock with horizontal bars complete the range of activities on offer. One highlight is the exercise track – an extra-wide lane that is fun for inline skaters, cyclists, and balance bikes, and also allows wheelchair users freedom of movement.

The renovation also makes the area more ecological. The former sidewalk has been unsealed, and newly planted shrubs, perennials, and trees provide less heat in the summer. A flower meadow and around 10,000 flower bulbs bring more biodiversity to the city. The square blends harmoniously into its surroundings while creating a lively meeting place.

A special element was created through the direct involvement of young people: a wooden "chill chair" built by them marks the center of the lawn and symbolizes the active involvement of young people in the project. New benches and picnic tables complete the space and invite people to linger.

This project impressively demonstrates how urban development support through the "Social Cohesion" program not only improves the quality of life in Gräselberg, but also strengthens the community and creates a space for encounters and activities.
