The current community center on Villacher Straße was deemed no longer economically viable for renovation. The existing space is also insufficient to meet the demand for open activities for children and young people, as well as meeting and socializing opportunities for all age groups. Completion is expected in 2026.

In addition to children's and youth work, the new building will be a home for all generations. The Gräselberg Children's, Youth, and Community Center will be the first inclusive (municipal) youth center in Wiesbaden. Access routes, entrances, doors, elevators, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible in accordance with DIN 18040-1.

The architectural firm kissler effgen + partner architekten BDA from Wiesbaden was commissioned with the construction planning. The client is SEG Stadterneuerungsgesellschaft Wiesbaden mbH on behalf of the Office for Social Work. The construction costs are estimated at approximately 23.5 million euros.

The room layout was designed by the Gräselberg district center team in close consultation with the children and young people who will be using the facility. It provides for the following barrier-free uses:

  • Multipurpose room for public meetings, cultural events, and private celebrations
  • Small dance/gymnastics room
  • Seminar and meeting rooms
  • Kitchen in the event area and youth area
  • YouTube room
  • Workshop
  • Youth café and a youth room for young people aged 16 and over
  • Gender-sensitive rooms for boys and girls
  • Office space for administration

The following are being built on the outdoor grounds of the community center:

  • Sports and leisure facilities – for example, table tennis, soccer, and basketball court
  • Public open spaces – for example, seating terraces/open area as a grandstand, barbecue area
  • Play areas and green spaces as well as parking spaces

The use of the property will be complemented by the Children and Parents Center (KiEZ) as part of the new parent-child residential community of the Regional Diakonie Wiesbaden Rheingau-Taunus. This will include twelve parent-child apartments (two of which are wheelchair accessible) and an administrative area with a counseling center for parents.

The plans provide for comprehensive sustainability standards. Both buildings meet the Efficiency House 40 EE standard, significantly exceeding the legal standard of the GEG. The buildings are heated by heat pumps. Ventilation units with a high heat recovery rate reduce heat loss during operation. The roofs will be equipped with photovoltaic systems and green roofs. The selection of plants will focus on strengthening biodiversity. Rainwater will be collected in a cistern and can be used for garden irrigation.
