Experimental spaces for sustainable urban development

Experiment room "Green | Gray | Blue"

Making Wilhelminian-style neighborhoods fit for the future

You can see a large intersection. The surface consists of different pavements and asphalt. There are trees on the right-hand side of the picture; there are no more trees in the street on the left, only parked cars.

Experimental Space V "green | gray | blue" aims to test how cities can be better adapted to climate change.

The project aims to redesign streets and squares so that they can be used for many purposes. So far, they have mainly been used for traffic, but that is set to change.

City centers have many residents, few green spaces and lots of concrete. Streets should not only be there for cars, but also for nature, water, people and environmentally friendly transportation such as bicycles.

These ideas will first be tested with temporary changes. Seating and plants will be placed in street areas for a certain period of time. In this way, we want to test how streets can be made more pleasant for the people who live there.

The project is a model project. It is intended to show how a city can be made more sustainable and better for everyone - together with the people who live there.
