The Seniors' Advisory Council offers various monthly events such as guided tours, movie afternoons and information evenings.

Afternoon Movie at the Murnau Filmtheater: Wednesday, September 2, 2026, 3:30 p.m.

Flashback: Amrum, Tuesday, September 8, 3:30 p.m.
1945, during the final weeks of World War II, in a small village on the island of Amrum. As the oldest child in the family, 12-year-old Nanning works in the potato field of farmer Tessa Bendixen or searches for driftwood to use as fuel to help his mother, Hille, feed the family. She is a staunch Nazi and a high-ranking member of the party. Nanning and his mother were forced to flee bombed-out Hamburg for the island, along with his aunt Ena and his two younger siblings. Nanning’s father is an Obersturmbannführer in the SS and is away at war. Although Nanning’s family on his mother’s side has been from Amrum for nine generations, he himself can only understand the local North Frisian language—he cannot speak it—which makes Nanning feel like a stranger on the island.

Public meetings
Public meetings or informational events are held regularly—usually on Mondays—at City Hall on Schlossplatz. Every citizen has the right to speak there. Speakers are invited to address specific and current topics. Invitations are posted in the press releases at the bottom of the page at www.wiesbaden.de/seniorenbeirat.

Before the agenda is addressed, a
question-and-answer session for citizens will take place at 10 a.m.

Elderly people in particular are the target of con artists who telephone them to ask them to hand over money and valuables or who gain access to their homes by posing as fake tradesmen.
The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council would like to intervene here to provide support: Marion Beste, a police-trained security advisor for senior citizens, is available to answer your questions and give you advice and tips. You will also find a sympathetic ear here if you have been victimized.
