Week of commitment for young people

Let's make life beautiful! Once a year, young people in Wiesbaden get involved in their neighborhood.

"Week of Engagement" takes place once a year at all children’s, youth, and neighborhood centers in the state capital of Wiesbaden; the most recent event was held in May. During this week, young people volunteer in their neighborhoods with a focus on the common good. Together with social workers, they engage with their immediate living environment.

The projects that emerge from this are as diverse as open-access children’s and youth work itself: They range from redesigning a schoolyard to a pizza-making event for the Salvation Army’s women’s shelter, from planting and litter-pickup campaigns to gatherings with older adults and conversation groups in the neighborhood.

I am incredibly proud of this initiative by young people to volunteer for more justice.
