Platform Extremism
In Wiesbaden, the "Platform Extremism" committee was founded by various organizations and sponsors. Its task is to counter extremist tendencies, regardless of whether they are politically or religiously motivated.
This body is composed of representatives from various agencies of the state capital of Wiesbaden, the Hessian State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the police, Wiesbaden schools, the Protestant and Catholic churches, and the Islamic communities in Wiesbaden. The Office for Immigration and Integration is responsible for managing the platform.
The work of the Platform Against Extremism is directed against any form of activity or development that hinders integration. This includes all forms of extremism, regardless of whether they are rooted in left-wing, right-wing, or religious fundamentalist ideologies.
The platform’s goals and tasks include a regular exchange of information and experiences, as well as the coordination and planning of projects and measures, including their evaluation.
The two extremism prevention projects—"Contact Center for Antisemitism and Group-Based Enmity" by Spiegelbild – Political Education in Wiesbaden (opens in a new tab) and the "Municipal Counseling Center for Salafism" by VIBIS e. V. (opens in a new tab)—arose directly from the work of the Extremism Platform.
