Heat transition
The heating transition is changing the way we’ll heat our homes in the future: fossil fuels are being gradually replaced by climate-friendly alternatives. This protects the climate, strengthens the security of supply, and prepares Wiesbaden for a climate-friendly heating system.
Why is the heating transition important?
In Wiesbaden, more than 80 percent of buildings are still heated with oil and natural gas. Heat supply accounts for about one-third of the city’s greenhouse gas emissions. Through its Municipal Heat Plan, Wiesbaden is charting a course toward a climate-friendly heat supply using local energy sources. By 2045, greenhouse gas emissions from heat supply are expected to drop by about 93 percent.
