To replace the missing and outdated community centers in the neighborhoods of Kastel and Kostheim, the state capital of Wiesbaden decided in 2015 to build a new shared community center. The Building Department of the State Capital of Wiesbaden is responsible for the planning and execution of the project; the City Administration, as the project owner, will also take over the management of the building upon completion.

With the new community center for the neighborhoods of Kastel and Kostheim, residents can look forward to a sustainable and forward-thinking building. Heat is supplied exclusively by heat pumps that draw their electricity from the building’s own photovoltaic system, among other sources. Both the main building and the annex feature green roofs and facades. A rainwater cistern is also used to irrigate the outdoor areas. The use of recycled concrete and ecologically certified building materials aligns with the sustainable construction guidelines of the state capital, Wiesbaden, and creates a pleasant and cozy atmosphere both inside and out that invites visitors to linger. Some of the publicly accessible parking spaces will also be equipped with electric vehicle charging stations.
