"South of Ernst-von-Harnack-Straße" in Klarenthal lies the site of the former Carl-von-Ossietzky School, located in the heart of the Ernst-May housing development.

Today, the site is characterized by the unusual, honeycomb-shaped former school building and the expansive green spaces and playgrounds, some of which feature mature trees.

In the future, a vibrant neighborhood featuring diverse, innovative housing options is to be developed here, one that blends seamlessly with the surrounding residential area. Under the motto “...you can get by without a car!”, the neighborhood is to be as car-free as possible, with the goal of returning public walkways and traffic areas to the people.

A total of approximately 300 new apartments are to be built. This is in accordance with the cooperation agreement, which stipulates a minimum density of 80 residential units per hectare for new residential areas.

Half of the property will be allocated by the state capital of Wiesbaden through a concept-based selection process based on quality criteria, while the other half will be developed by the nonprofit municipal housing association GWW for affordable and subsidized housing. The existing building is to be incorporated into the planning (keyword: “gray energy”).
