Wiesbaden Rheingau" region presents itself for Germany as a travel destination

The destination "Wiesbaden Rheingau" and Rüdesheim am Rhein attended around 100 B2B appointments at the German Travel Market (GTM) in Bonn.

International buyers from Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, China, Poland, India, the USA, the GCC region, Denmark, Spain and Israel came to find out about the region's tourism offering.

"The growing interest of travel buyers from all over the world in our region shows that Wiesbaden inspires. This positive signal encourages us to further expand our international presence and to position our offers at international trade fairs and workshops in a targeted manner," said Mayor and Head of Economic Affairs Christiane Hinninger.

An exclusive pre-convention tour for 14 international guests took place in Wiesbaden before the actual workshop. The participants were given exciting insights into the city's diverse range of tourist attractions. The program included guided tours of Henkell Castle - the headquarters of the Henkell Freixenet sparkling wine cellar - the Reinhard Ernst Museum with its modern abstract art and the Wiesbaden Museum with its unique Art Nouveau exhibition.

The talks focused on the cultural diversity of the "Wiesbaden Rheingau" destination, which is characterized by its wine offerings and the inspiring landscape along the Rhine. The profile of Wiesbaden in the Rheingau as a sustainable destination in the countryside, offering both cultural and natural experiences, was particularly emphasized. Individual tours were in high demand, for example "Walk like a local" in the Rheingau. There was also strong interest in wine hikes, e-bike tours and wine tastings in special wine bars, such as the RheinWeinWelt in Rüdesheim.

Overall, hiking, culinary delights and sightseeing are among the most frequently mentioned interests of tour operators. St. Hildegard's Abbey in Rüdesheim, which was also the focus of an excursion at the recently held Tourism Dialogue City | Country, was also new to many of the discussion partners.

The announcement of the Federal Garden Show (BUGA) 2029 - World Heritage Cultural Landscape Upper Middle Rhine Valley attracted additional attention. Together with Bingen, Rüdesheim am Rhein forms the southern gateway to the BUGA and was particularly well received by the participants as a potential reason to travel - a topic that stimulated numerous discussions.

"We are delighted about the numerous positive responses and the great interest in Wiesbaden and the Rheingau as a travel destination," said Martin Michel, Managing Director of Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH, and Dominik Russler, Managing Director of Rheingau-Taunus Kultur und Tourismus GmbH, added: "Participation in GTM 2025 was a further step towards positioning the destination even more strongly internationally as a charming, relaxed and versatile travel destination."
