ESWE Verkehr has increased passenger numbers again in 2024
Passenger numbers at ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH rose again in the past financial year. While around 56.6 million passengers were transported in 2023, the figure in 2024 was already around 58.5 million, bringing Wiesbaden's mobility service provider back to pre-coronavirus levels.
"We are delighted with the positive development and would like to thank all passengers who have remained loyal to us and use the bus service in Wiesbaden," says Marion Hebding, Managing Director of ESWE Verkehr. "Last year, we still had to offer a reduced timetable in some cases. With the return to a larger service at the end of 2024, we hope that we can continue the trend and soon reach and even exceed the 60 million passengers per year mark again."
The strong increase in subscribers has also contributed to the rise in passenger numbers. Around 66,200 subscribed tickets were counted at the end of 2024, around 30,000 more than in the previous year. Subscriptions include the Deutschland-Ticket, the Job-Ticket, the Hessenpass mobil and school and senior citizen tickets.
In addition to the passengers on scheduled services, the Nerobergbahn added over 308,000 passengers in 2024, which is also a record figure compared to previous years.
Last year, ESWE Verkehr covered around 12.5 million commercial vehicle kilometers with its buses, including the routes operated by partner companies. This transport performance was also increased compared to the previous year.
