Temporary parking lot under Schierstein Bridge can be used immediately

Following the completion of the connecting section of the cycle path between the Biebrich Rhine meadows and Schierstein harbour, further areas are now being prepared for future use. Pending the construction of the planned multifunctional area and the parking lot, the area will now be provisionally made available for parking with immediate effect, according to Andreas Kowol, head of the traffic department.

As the bridge work has been completed, the areas under the Schierstein Bridge on the Wiesbaden side are no longer required for construction site facilities. Therefore, the future use under the bridge and in the adjacent leisure areas can now be gradually implemented. To this end, the Civil Engineering and Surveying Office has paved an access road and opened up the adjacent gravel areas for parking. The parking lot is only accessible from the north via Rheingaustraße, not via Hafenweg.

Thanks to the uncomplicated arrangements with Autobahn GmbH, this provisional use was made possible for the interim period until the final completion of the parking lot. The offer is intended in particular for visitors to the Schierstein harbor and the Rhine meadows. The parking lot is only to be used for parking cars and boat trailers on an hourly or daily basis; it is not intended for permanent parking.
