Fiber optic expansion: contract signed with Deutsche Glasfaser
The city of Wiesbaden has signed a cooperation agreement with Deutsche Glasfaser for the expansion of fiber optic lines in the city. There is also already a cooperation with Deutsche GigaNetz - other telecommunications companies have expressed their interest.
The self-funded fiber optic expansion creates the basis for a modern, high-performance infrastructure and strengthens Wiesbaden as an attractive residential and business location. Mayor Christiane Hinninger emphasizes: "Fast and stable Internet is more important today than ever - for families, companies, schools and the administration. The expansion is a decisive step towards future-proofing Wiesbaden."
Planning and construction work is currently underway in almost all parts of the city to connect households and businesses to the fiber optic network. The technology offers numerous advantages:
- Higher speed: Ideal for working from home, digital learning and streaming.
- Future-proof: Long-term performance even with growing data requirements.
- Economic attractiveness: Modern infrastructure as a locational advantage for companies.
The state capital of Wiesbaden is actively supporting the process in order to enable the broadest possible participation of providers. Citizens are encouraged to obtain information about connection options and contract terms directly from the telecommunications companies.
The Department of Economics and Employment and the respective providers are available for general information. Advice on connections and contracts is provided exclusively by the companies.
