Cemile Sahin presents "Kommando Ajax"
Art theft, self-portraits, snipers - with "Kommando Ajax", Cemile Sahin presents a fast-paced and action-packed novel, which she will present on Wednesday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine, Frankfurter Straße 1.
Selected passages will be read by the two actors Eva-Maria Damasko and Oliver Wronka. The evening will be hosted by freelance journalist and critic Shirin Sojitrawalla (DLF and taz). The Wiesbaden-born author is currently nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize with "Kommando Ajax". The event is organized by the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine/Kulturamt Wiesbaden.
Scripted scenes in "Kommando Ajax" tell the story of the Kurdish Korkmaz family. When their homeland goes up in flames, they flee to the Netherlands and try to build a new life in Rotterdam. Then, by chance, extremely valuable paintings from an art heist end up with the family and a hunt for life and death begins. Cemile Sahin constructs her novel like a movie, with close-ups, time jumps and flashbacks, alongside images, pop culture references and intertitles. Against this backdrop, the author tells a story of revenge, love and friendship with a unique voice and gripping dynamics.
Cemile Sahin was born in Wiesbaden in 1990 and works as an author and visual artist. Her debut novel "Taxi" was published in 2019, followed by "Alle Hunde sterben" in 2020. Cemile Sahin was awarded the Alfred Döblin Medal for her writing. She lives in Berlin.
