Renovation work on Emser Strasse and Riederbergstrasse
In the fourth week of May, starting on Monday, May 19, the waste management company of the state capital Wiesbaden (ELW) will begin setting up the construction site and then renovating the sewer in Emser Straße. The construction work should be completed by summer 2027.
In the first construction phase, which will last until the end of November 2025, the section from Emser Straße 5 (Schwalbacher Straße) up to and including Emser Straße 38 (Riederbergstraße) will be worked on. The Riederbergstraße junction will be fully closed.
Construction phase 2, the sewer renovation in Riederbergstraße, will begin immediately afterwards. The renewal of the infrastructure in Emser Straße and Riederbergstraße is expected to last until June 2027. Unforeseeable circumstances are to be expected in civil engineering, which may affect the progress of construction work and change the planned processes. Current information can be found here (opens in a new tab).
The entire construction project is based on a traffic concept. In coordination with the road traffic authorities, the work will be carried out with full road closures in sections.
In order to carry out the work efficiently and safely, it will be necessary to close the affected areas completely. The detour will be via the 1st ring road, Friedrich-Ebert-Allee and Wilhelmstraße. In order to minimize traffic congestion in the adjacent areas, it is also recommended to take a wide detour around the area via the 2nd ring road. Cycle traffic will be routed through the Westend.
During the construction work, there will be an absolute ban on stopping at the construction site.
ESWE Verkehr will provide information on bus detour at eswe-verkehr.de.
A city's infrastructure is crucial to its quality of life. In addition to a functioning sewer network, a modern and safe city also needs a reliable supply of drinking water and gas as well as a well-developed road network.
During regular inspections, a considerable need for renovation of the sewer network was identified in large sections of Emser Strasse and Riederbergstrasse. After detailed planning and coordination between the road traffic authority, ELW and ESWE Versorgungs AG as well as the civil engineering and surveying office, it was decided to also renew the water and gas supply pipes and carry out a comprehensive road renovation as part of the renovation measures. The combination of these works makes it possible to achieve synergy effects in terms of construction time and costs and to secure the infrastructure in the long term.
ELW, ESWE Versorgung and the state capital of Wiesbaden ask all residents and road users for their understanding and patience during the construction work, which is aimed at improving the city's infrastructure and ensuring a reliable supply of drinking water, gas and wastewater.
