A sign of international understanding: rally to Klagenfurt and Zagreb

Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende gave the starting signal for the fifth rally of the "Wheels for Europe" association on Monday, May 19.

The motorcycle, car and classic car riders from Mainz and Wiesbaden are once again setting off on a trip to Klagenfurt and Zagreb. Klagenfurt is Wiesbaden's twin city in Austria, while Zagreb is Mainz's twin city in Croatia. There will be official receptions in both cities hosted by the city councils. The aim of the rally is to promote a united and peaceful Europe. Personal encounters on site are intended to strengthen international understanding.

Lord Mayor Mende said: "On behalf of the state capital of Wiesbaden, I would like to thank all those who are contributing to the European idea through their commitment. For many years, the state capital of Wiesbaden has maintained partnerships with many cities in Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. Town twinning offers the opportunity to learn more about the people, their culture and customs as well as their everyday life. It is great that 'Wheels for Europe' is committed to this through such rallies. With our title 'European City', we as a city are underlining this idea of partnership."
