Tour of Wiesbaden care facilities: Kick-off event on June 2

On Monday, June 2, the tour of Wiesbaden's care facilities will start with a public event on Schlossplatz. The Gerontological Regional Network Wiesbaden (GereNETZ) and the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council are inviting people to an afternoon of information under the motto "Precaution meets care - growing older in a self-determined way".

From 12 noon, the GereNETZ network partners will have information stands on Schlossplatz. Citizens will be able to find out more about care and old age. At 3 p.m., the official opening by the Seniors' Advisory Council will begin in the City Council meeting room, followed by a welcoming address by City Councillor Gaby Wolf, representing Dr. Patricia Becher, Head of Social Affairs. This will be followed by four short presentations on the topics of care, legal provisions, living in old age and prevention. Dr. Volker Cihlar, Head of the Department for Work with the Elderly at the Office for Social Work, will moderate the event.

"Many people want to be able to live independently in familiar surroundings for as long as possible, even with increasing support needs. This makes it all the more important to know at an early stage what services are available - from outpatient help and day care to inpatient care. The tour helps people to find their bearings and make the right decisions in good time," says Dr. Becher.

The tour of Wiesbaden care facilities runs from Wednesday, June 4 to Wednesday, June 18. During this period, 27 outpatient, day-care and inpatient facilities in the GereNETZ network will be opening their doors to interested parties. In addition to guided tours and discussions, visitors can also look forward to social events such as music, coffee and cake or a champagne reception, depending on the facility.

The aim is to facilitate access to information on all aspects of ageing - from legal provisions and forms of housing to health promotion options. The tour aims to encourage people to deal with the topic of care at an early stage and without pressure.

A brochure with the complete program can be downloaded online and is available in printed form at many municipal locations.
