Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

Construction work and single-lane traffic routing in Äppelallee

From Monday, May 4, the Äppelallee carriageway will be narrowed at the junction of Albert-Schweitzer-Allee and Hagenauer Straße for the renewal of a sewer on behalf of the waste disposal company of the state capital of Wiesbaden (ELW). Only one lane will be available in each direction.

Access to Albert-Schweitzer-Allee from Äppelallee is closed. Similarly, the exit from Hagenauer Straße onto Äppelallee is closed; however, entry from the east remains possible.

Construction work begins with Phase 1 on Monday, May 4, and is expected to continue through Tuesday, August 14. After that, the construction site will move further west. Drivers unfamiliar with the area who are coming from the west and wish to access the Hagenauer Straße industrial park are asked to use Friedrich-Bergius-Straße. The detour is clearly marked. Traffic congestion is expected. It is recommended to avoid the area by taking a wider route.

Pedestrians can use their usual routes. The city asks for your understanding regarding the traffic disruptions associated with the work.

The city regularly renovates roads, utility lines, and sewers. That is why there are approximately 5,000 construction sites in Wiesbaden every year. A map showing selected projects is available at wiesbaden.de/baustellen (opens in a new tab). If buses are affected, ESWE Verkehr will provide information on detours at eswe-verkehr.de (opens in a new tab). All of this work is an investment in the future. Without these projects, major damage would occur sooner or later, leading to more severe traffic disruptions.
