Educational Tour: 27 event planners experience Wiesbaden as a well-connected convention and event destination

In August, 27 event planners from companies, agencies, associations, and organizations visited the capital of Hesse. Organized by Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH (WICM), the tour combined destination marketing with the exchange of professional knowledge and networking with Wiesbaden-based partners. The goal is to attract event planners to Wiesbaden by personally showing them the city and what it has to offer.

The goal of the educational tour is to invite potential clients to Wiesbaden for future conventions, conferences, and events and to help them get to know the destination from the perspective of their own event planning. In addition to the event venues RheinMain CongressCenter (RMCC) and Kurhaus Wiesbaden, the tour therefore also focused on the hotel industry, the city center, tourist attractions, and the unique experience the destination has to offer.

“Anyone planning an event is no longer just choosing a meeting room. What matters most is the overall experience for participants—from travel arrangements to getting around the city and accommodations, all the way to dining, the supporting program, and the atmosphere. With our Educational Tour, we bring this interplay to life while simultaneously connecting event decision-makers directly with the relevant contacts in Wiesbaden,” explains Matthias Fromm, Managing Director of Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH.

The two-day program showcased Wiesbaden as a well-connected conference and convention destination. In addition to a reception at the Hotel Schwarzer Bock, the program included a guided tour of the Kurhaus, an “Inside Walk” through the city center, a visit to the Rheingau Wine Week, and a detailed “site inspection” of the RheinMain CongressCenter. This allowed participants to get to know not only the event venues but also the short distances, the quality of the stay, and the destination’s surroundings.

For the first time, the Wiesbaden partner network was integrated even more closely. During a speed-dating session, the 27 event planners engaged in conversation with representatives from the Dorint Hotel, the Hotel Schwarzer Bock, the Mercure Hotel, the Heimathafen, and the WICM Tourist Service. This gave the guests direct access to relevant contacts for future events, while the Wiesbaden partners were able to present themselves to potential clients.

For many years now, the educational tours have been a key sales component for Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH, which operates the RMCC, Kurhaus, and Jagdschloss Platte venues. They combine destination marketing, personal business development, knowledge transfer, and networking, and enable event decision-makers to get to know Wiesbaden firsthand.
