Due to the high temperatures of the past few weeks, the road surface in this area has sustained significant damage. To ensure long-term traffic safety and prevent further damage, a short-term, comprehensive rehabilitation of the roadway is necessary.

During the construction period, there will be changes to traffic routing in the construction zone at the 1st Ring and Bahnhofstraße: The eastbound side of Bahnhofstraße toward downtown will be closed on this section; buses and other traffic heading toward downtown will then be routed to the westbound side of the road. To accommodate this, one car lane on the opposite side of the road will be removed. At the left-turn lane from the 1st Ring onto Bahnhofstraße, only one turning lane will be available; a U-turn back onto the 1st Ring will still be possible. 

The closure also affects bicycle traffic. Pedestrians can continue to use their usual routes. Road users are asked to exercise special caution when using this area. Motorists should avoid Bahnhofstraße and, if possible, take Friedrich-Ebert-Allee toward the city center.

Construction work will begin on Wednesday, July 29, and is expected to last until the end of August. Afterward, the new, more durable pavement on the bus lane will need time to cure; however, the car lane will then be available to road users again.

The Public Works Department asks everyone affected for their understanding regarding the restrictions associated with the necessary construction work.

The city regularly renovates roads, utility lines, and sewers. As a result, there are approximately 5,000 construction sites in Wiesbaden every year. Without these projects, major damage would occur sooner or later, leading to more severe traffic disruptions.
