Sewer Construction at Langenbeckplatz: Changed Traffic Routes for Access to the JoHo Underground Parking Garage

From Monday, July 13, through Friday, August 7, ELW (the state capital’s waste management authority) will complete a sewer construction project that began in 2021 but was interrupted by the renovation of the Joho.

To this end, the entire stretch of Langenbeckplatz between Frankfurter Straße and Langenbeckstraße must be completely closed for the period mentioned above. A closure of only one side of the street was considered in consultation with the traffic authority, taking into account the impact on access to the Joho underground parking garage; however, this is not feasible. The construction project, which is necessary for the maintenance and improvement of the infrastructure, was deliberately scheduled for the summer vacation period when traffic is lighter.

ELW must install a round inspection chamber, 1.20 meters in diameter, in front of the corner where Langenbeckplatz, Solmsstraße, and Langenbeckstraße meet.

The construction project will result in a change to traffic routing: Access to the JoHo underground parking garage from Frankfurter Straße will be either

· via the detour through Marie-Curie-Straße and Langenbeckstraße

· or via the detour through Beethovenstraße, Humboldtstraße, and Solmsstraße.

Exit from the JoHo underground parking garage is only possible via Solmsstraße.
