In recent years, the Women’s Breakfast at Gräselberg has been funded through the federal programs “Social City” and “Social Cohesion.” After this funding expired at the end of 2025, a joint effort was made to find a way to maintain this regular program for women in the neighborhood.

Miriam Weinandi, president of the Zonta Club Wiesbaden, presented the donation to Corina Schelling, volunteer coordinator of the Gräselberg Women’s Breakfast Group. Afterward, members of the Women’s Breakfast Group, representatives of the Zonta Club Wiesbaden, and other guests engaged in conversation over breakfast together.

“The women’s breakfast in Gräselberg shows how important reliable gathering places are in the neighborhood. Here, connections aren’t formed in an abstract way, but in a very practical one: People get to know each other, check in on one another, learn about what’s going on, and stay connected. It’s precisely these kinds of programs that bring a neighborhood to life and empower people in their daily lives,” said Dr. Becher. “I would like to thank the Zonta Club Wiesbaden for the donation and Corina Schelling for her tremendous volunteer commitment.”

“Zonta is committed worldwide to empowering women and girls, which is why it was important to us to support a project that directly reaches women. The Women’s Breakfast isn’t a one-time event, but a regular gathering that has grown over the years through the women’s own initiative and does exactly that,” said Miriam Weinandi, president of the Zonta Club Wiesbaden.

“For the breakfast to take place regularly, it takes many small steps: shopping, preparing, inviting people, checking in, and seeing what the women need at the moment. The fact that our donation gives us planning certainty for the coming months helps us a great deal,” says Corina Schelling, volunteer coordinator of the Gräselberg Women’s Breakfast Group.

The women’s breakfast takes place regularly at “Treffpunkt aktiv,” the Gräselberg neighborhood center. It is aimed at women from the neighborhood and offers the opportunity to socialize over breakfast and share stories about life in Gräselberg.
