Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

"Museum and city center - what's possible?"

"Museum and city center - what's possible?" is the topic of a discussion event on Wednesday, June 10, from 6 p.m. at WerkRaum Wiesbaden, Langgasse 5-9.

How can city centers be revitalized? What role can museums play in this process? And how can cultural venues serve as open spaces today—right in the heart of the city and close to the people? These questions will be the focus of the sam DesignDialog on Wednesday, June 10, at 6 p.m. at WerkRaum Wiesbaden. The public discussion event is part of the World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026.

Currently, there is also intense discussion in Wiesbaden about how a skillful mix of offerings can make our city center attractive and sustainable. At the same time, museums are gaining importance as places of encounter, exchange, and social participation. Against the backdrop of vacant spaces, changing city centers, and new forms of use, the sam DesignDialog will discuss what impetus museums can provide for the development of urban spaces.

To this end, the City Museum welcomes guests from Frankfurt, Chemnitz, and Hamburg-Harburg:

Dr. Doreen Mölders, Frankfurt
Historical Museum Prof. Dr. Rainer-Maria Weiss, Hamburg Archaeological Museum, Harburg City Museum, and Planet Hamburg
Dr. Sabine Wolfram, State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz (smac)
Television journalist Andreas Hieke will moderate the event.

The event is open to the public. Admission is free. Participation is possible both in person and online.
