47th Theatrium: Five stages, 240 stands and summer flair in Wiesbaden from June 12 to 14

From Friday, June 12 to Sunday, June 14, Wiesbaden's Wilhelmstraße will once again be transformed into one of the liveliest festival miles in Germany: the 47th Theatrium invites you to three days full of music, enjoyment, movement and summery joie de vivre. The traditional street festival starts on Friday, June 12, at 2 pm. It will be opened at 6 pm on the Bowling Green by Lord Mayor Gert Uwe Mende and Mayoress Christiane Hinninger.

With a total of 240 booths, Theatrium offers an impressive variety of attractions. These include a large arts and crafts market in the Kurpark and a wide range of dining options along Wilhelmstraße and Burgstraße. On five stages at Bowling Green, Warmer Damm, Burgstraße, the Konzertmuschel, and in the Kurpark near Toggo, visitors can enjoy a program featuring dance, live music, and shows. Artists in costume who move through the crowd (so-called “walking acts”) ensure spontaneous, charming encounters and a lively atmosphere every day.

Christiane Hinninger, Head of Economic Affairs and Mayor: “The Theatrium demonstrates time and again just how diverse, creative, and energetic Wiesbaden is. And there are always new offerings, such as this year’s ‘Arena of Skills,’ where children can try their hand at various sports. We expect well over 100,000 visitors for the weekend.”

Simon Rottloff, Authorized Signatory at Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH (WICM): “The tastiest dishes and trendiest drinks complement the traditional strawberry punch and bratwurst in a bun at the food stands. Our sustainability strategy has also become well-established. The food vendors are using recyclable or biodegradable disposable tableware.”

In a new experience area in front of the Nassauer Hof, the “Arena of Skills” from the German Football League (DFL), the DFL Foundation, and Sporthilfe is making its debut. Under the motto #CHECKdeineSKILLS, children and teens can try out various sports for people with and without disabilities. These include (wheelchair) basketball, parkour, (para) table tennis, and blind football. With each station completed, the young participants collect stamps for a raffle. Parents can get information about sports clubs. With a little luck, visitors may even encounter well-known sports role models.

Families will especially enjoy the new, even larger Toggo Children’s Land in the Kurpark. For the youngest guests, there are hands-on activities and a program on the Showtruck stage. Following last year’s success, the French Gourmet Market in the Kurpark also invites visitors to enjoy a culinary getaway. Popular classics like the Ferris wheel on the Kurhaus forecourt or the chain carousel at Warmer Damm round out the offerings.

To facilitate a sustainable and hassle-free trip by bike, there will again be two secure bike parking areas in front of the Kurhaus and at the Dern’schen Gelände. Both are open Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.  The designated alcohol ban is in effect again at Warmer Damm. To ensure everyone can celebrate carefree, preventive awareness teams from Moja e. V., in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Office, will be on duty.

On Friday, starting at 2 p.m. in front of the IHK, government agencies of the state capital of Wiesbaden will be presenting themselves for the first time. Among them is the Municipal Women’s Department, which will introduce the “Luisa ist hier!” campaign. The Personnel Office will provide information on training and careers in the administration. The Office of Statistics and Urban Research will present everything related to “Open Data.” The Environmental Office will offer information on heat protection. The development team behind the Wiesbaden Digital Twin and the Smart City Department will provide information on current projects.

There will be road closures on all major access roads to the festival grounds: Wilhelmstraße and Burgstraße will be closed from Thursday, June 11, at 10 a.m. until Monday, June 15, at 5 a.m. Additionally, Paulinenstraße will be closed during the Theatrium.
