Kunsthaus Wiesbaden: New website enables greater participation

The new Kunsthaus Wiesbaden website has been live since Thursday, May 7. It makes the diverse activities of the Kunsthaus more visible and accessible. This also includes the presentation of the artists in the Atelierhaus, which was reopened in September last year, and the digital municipal art collection - the online database of the Artothek.

With the new page, accessible at wiesbaden.de/microsite/kunsthaus (opens in a new tab), the Kunsthaus is making it easier for people to engage with art and its offerings. By visiting the website, interested visitors can prepare for their visit to the Kunsthaus with the relevant information and learn about the variety of in-person and digital offerings in an accessible format. Most of the website’s content is available in twelve languages thanks to AI-powered automatic translation.

For the first time, visitors can now take a digital stroll through the Kunsthaus on the website: A teaser video introduces the Kunsthaus grounds, and the exhibition archive presents exhibitions from recent years through multimedia. Interested visitors can use their cell phones or tablets to digitally explore art treasures in public spaces via the Actionbound tour.

From its origins as an elementary school and later as a vocational arts school, the Kunsthaus has evolved into an oasis of art, inviting a broad audience—including people with disabilities—to engage in dialogue about contemporary art and socially relevant discourses. It has been a member of the Museum Association since 2020 and regularly participates in International Museum Day, which draws global attention to the role of museums and their commitment to understanding, tolerance, and diversity, while also advocating for greater cultural participation. In addition, the Kunsthaus offers free, inclusive guided tours for all exhibitions. For this reason, the new website also implements key accessibility requirements. Initial content in sign language, such as an introduction to the Kunsthaus, is now available.
