Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

For now, the boil-water advisory remains in effect as a precaution: Drinking water continues to be tested extensively

Tests conducted so far on drinking water in parts of downtown Wiesbaden have yielded further important findings. However, additional samples are still needed for a final assessment and the possible lifting of the precautionary boil-water order. Until then, the boil-water order remains in effect as a precautionary measure.

Since Friday, September 25, the Wiesbaden Municipal Water Utility (WLW) has been conducting more frequent pipe flushing, sampling, and testing. Additional testing is scheduled for Friday, October 2, and Tuesday, October 6, among other dates.

The test results needed for further evaluation are expected no earlier than Thursday, October 8. The results will then be evaluated in their overall context. The Public Health Department and WLW will provide timely updates on the next steps shortly thereafter.

To lift the boil-water order, three consecutive test results showing no abnormalities must be obtained from all relevant sampling points. These include both the previously contaminated sites and sampling points at the boundaries of the affected area. There must be an interval of at least two and no more than four days between each round of testing. Only once these conditions are met can a decision be made to lift the boil-water order. Until then, the public is asked to continue to comply with the existing boil-water order.

The Public Health Department has been available to citizens over the past few days, including over the weekend. However, the number of telephone and written inquiries has since declined significantly. Therefore, the additional weekend service for the Public Health Department’s information hotline will be discontinued. Regular availability during the week remains unchanged.
