Inspection of the urban area on behalf of the state capital
Information on data protection for citizens: As part of the ongoing digitalization and further development into a smart city, the state capital of Wiesbaden has had the public road network recorded by camera vehicles.
This resulted in 360-degree panoramic images and precise 3D point clouds of the Wiesbaden street space. Cyclomedia Deutschland GmbH was commissioned to carry out the work.
Purpose of the inspection
The purpose of the survey is to map the physical environment of publicly accessible spaces in the Wiesbaden city area digitally, precisely and up-to-date in order to make the data efficiently usable for administrative processes, planning, infrastructure management and similar applications. The data is used exclusively for internal municipal tasks, for example
- Planning, maintenance and further development of roads, paths and urban infrastructure
- Preparation and monitoring of construction and transportation projects
- Documentation of the cityscape
- Optimization of internal administrative processes
The images are not published on the Internet.
What data is recorded?
During the drive, panoramic images of public roads and three-dimensional geodata were recorded. To protect privacy, faces and license plates were automatically blurred using pixelation.
Who can view the data?
Access is granted exclusively to selected municipal employees, primarily from building, planning and regulatory offices, municipal enterprises and municipal companies with a legitimate interest.
Storage duration
The anonymized image and 3D data are permanently archived for planning, documentation and administrative purposes.
