The Open Data Officer of the State Capital of Wiesbaden
The Open Data Officer is the central point of contact for all questions relating to open administrative data in the state capital of Wiesbaden and is responsible for implementing the "Open by Default" principle. His tasks include
- Advising and supporting all municipal offices, municipal enterprises and companies in the provision of open data,
- Ensuring data quality on the open data platform and
- Further development and coordination of the city administration's open data strategy and governance.
The Open Data Officer creates binding standards and guidelines for metadata, data formats, licenses and technical interfaces and coordinates the city-wide implementation of "Open by Default" in accordance with resolution no. 0481 of the City Council of 20 December 2023. He or she carries out the technical review and approval of datasets to be published, applying a multi-stage quality assurance procedure that includes primary and secondary blocking to avoid re-identification risks. He also identifies high-quality datasets in accordance with EU Directive 2019/1024 and develops innovative methods for automated metadata creation and data validation.
He represents the state capital of Wiesbaden in the national and international open data community. He conducts workshops and training courses for employees and coordinates the dialog with civil society, science and business. He coordinates closely with the data protection officer, the information security officer, IT management and other municipal and national partners.
