A permit from the competent regulatory authority is required to keep a listed/dangerous dog.

The following breeds are considered list dogs according to the Hessian Dog Ordinance:
Pitbull Terrier or American Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier or Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, Dogo Argentino, Kangal (Karabash), Caucasian Owtscharka and Rottweiler.
