The Wiesbaden Registry Office issues citizens with birth, marriage/civil partnership, and death certificates, as well as certified copies from the civil status registers. You can order these online. We will send the certificates to you free of charge. 

Certificates contain personal data that is subject to data protection. However, information from civil status registers or the issuance of a civil status certificate can only be obtained by persons to whom the entry relates, as well as their spouses, ancestors, and direct descendants. This is regulated by the Civil Status Act § 61-66.

Siblings who are at least 16 years of age can obtain birth and death certificates if they can prove a legitimate interest. Third parties can only obtain a certificate with a power of attorney and a copy of the ID of the person granting the power of attorney (in this case: the person named in the certificate for all types of certificates or direct relatives of the person named in the certificate for death certificates).
