Fighting raccoons
According to the EU regulation, raccoons are considered an invasive species, which means that their spread must be prevented or minimized. The raccoon is therefore subject to hunting law. Adult animals can be hunted from August 1 to February 28 and young animals can be hunted all year round.
Hunting is generally suspended in pacified areas. The lower hunting authority may allow exceptions to this rule.
Property owners are generally responsible for removing raccoon infestations themselves. At the same time, private individuals without a recognized trapping course are not permitted to set traps on their own, so the help of a suitably trained person is always required. The hunting authority offers support here.
