Accommodation for refugees and involuntarily homeless people
Rent arrears can arise due to an inability to pay and may result in the loss of your housing.
If you have rent arrears, these may be covered under certain conditions if doing so helps secure your housing.
You can receive this assistance in the form of a loan or a grant. Unlike a loan, a grant does not have to be repaid.
The requirement is that you are unable to clear the rent arrears on your own. The decision on whether you receive assistance is always made on a case-by-case basis. You can still apply for assistance even if your lease has already been terminated due to the rent arrears.
The agency will review whether all requirements for covering your rent arrears are met. You can also seek advice on how to resolve the rent arrears, for example, through installment payments.
There is no legal entitlement to have your rent arrears covered.
