PlayFountain water playground on Luisenplatz
The PlayFountain mobile water playground returned to Luisenplatz with a lively start to the summer vacations. The popular water attraction provided refreshment, exercise and lots of summer fun in the heart of the city center until 13 August.
The PlayFountain mobile water playground on Luisenplatz had to stop playing on Wednesday, August 13, a few days before it was actually scheduled to end. This was due to technical problems with the filter system, which had already broken down a few days ago.
The PlayFountain brings life, refreshment and an offer for all generations to Wiesbaden's city center. At the same time, the mobile water playground also contributes to climate adaptation and promotes the quality of life in the city. This is more important than ever, especially in view of the increasingly hot summers.
Last year, the PlayFountain was enthusiastically received by over 15,000 visitors. Numerous families, daycare centers and vacation groups took advantage of the opportunity to actively cool off in the summer temperatures. Due to the great success and high demand, the event has now been relaunched - with a few improvements.
New offers in the second year
New this year are additional shaded areas with large parasols, comfortable deckchairs, a toilet truck and the sale of drinks at cost price. This is the city's direct response to feedback from the previous year and aims to make the visit even more enjoyable.
Another highlight is a free summer concert with Sabine Gramenz and Malte Kühn, which will take place as part of the "Wiesbaden reads in summer (opens in a new tab)" series on Thursday, July 31 at 7.30 pm at the trick fountains - with atmospheric lighting and water staging in the background.
Sophisticated technology
Behind the visible pleasure lies sophisticated technology. The PlayFountain is around 100 square meters in size and has 1,024 electronically controlled jets that create dynamic water fountains up to four meters high.
A modern water treatment system ensures that the water is circulated, continuously purified and kept at drinking water quality. At just 10 kilowatts per hour, power consumption remains very low.
