What drives you? What is your motto?
Nothing is impossible. We don’t just talk about possibilities—we make them happen.
What is your startup about, and what makes it special?
Hyposto Energy helps companies and individuals store energy more efficiently and reduce costs in the long term.
We analyze existing structures, identify savings potential, and provide hands-on support during implementation. What sets us apart is our combination of technical expertise and years of project experience in industry and energy; we don’t just think in terms of concepts, but in terms of actionable solutions that deliver measurable results.
Our storage technology offers a lifespan and energy capacity five times longer than conventional solutions. It poses no fire or explosion hazard and operates without thermal management, reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 80%. Additionally, it is up to 100% recyclable and repairable, ensuring sustainability and longevity.
What are your first successes?
A major milestone was winning first place at Science4Life in the idea phase, as well as third place at the InnoSpace Masters within the ESA ecosystem. These awards have confirmed that our approach is compelling both technologically and strategically.
We are particularly proud that our storage solutions are not only relevant for industrial photovoltaic applications but are also being considered in the context of aerospace and disaster response.
The combination of energy supply, resilience, and space technology has shown us the potential of our idea. This recognition from experts and institutions has motivated and encouraged us enormously to continue moving forward.
What is your professional background?
Joachim was already self-employed in radio and television technology, and Christos was also an entrepreneur in the automotive sector. Later, Joachim, Christos, and Georges met at a large engineering services provider, where we also worked together and developed solutions for major OEMs. That’s where our shared vision for a new energy storage solution took shape. From this idea, we spun out as a classic spin-off to become independent.
What prompted you to start your own company?
The catalyst was the search for a topic for Christos’s bachelor’s thesis. He explored an alternative cell technology and later delved deeper into the topic in his master’s thesis. That’s how our focus on LTO—lithium titanate oxide capacitors—came about.
That scientific work has since resulted in two international patents. They make it possible to reliably balance this cell technology with an intelligent battery management system. A well-thought-out technical design complements the concept. It was clear to us: this innovation needs a strong team and its own company. That’s how Hyposto Energy came to be.
Who advised you, and who are your supporters and mentors? From the very beginning, Georges’ father Can and uncle Cibrail—who
at the time ran the engineering firm where we worked—played a central role. They not only shaped us professionally but also gave us the entrepreneurial freedom to further develop our idea. Today, both are retired, but they continue to support us as important mentors with their experience, foresight, and honest feedback.
During our participation in Science4Life, we received intensive support. Particularly influential was the support from our mentor Lauret Guyard, who advised us strategically on financing, investor outreach, and competitions. This collaboration has evolved into a long-term partnership. Today, he supports us as a finance mentor and business partner, both strategically and in building a sustainable financing model.
Of course, our family is also a vital source of support. Together with friends, they often help us day and night with technical and organizational tasks—whether it’s building prototypes, sales, trade shows, or assembly. This close support is what makes Hyposto Energy possible in the first place.
What were your first days as founders like?
In our first days as founders, we felt the full force of the energy industry’s dynamics: constantly changing political and legal frameworks. It was clear that we had to stay up to date at all times to avoid making mistakes. At the same time, it took courage to critically question business models and sometimes dare to make a complete 360-degree turn.
What was your biggest challenge, and how did you overcome it?
Our biggest challenge right now is scaling our market-ready home storage product (9.1 kWh) to large-scale storage. We’re grappling with technical requirements, design issues, and new ideas. At the same time, we’re actively seeking contributors, investors, and partners to successfully take the next step.
How do you raise awareness of your company? What is your best marketing idea?
We raise awareness of Hyposto Energy through posts and updates on LinkedIn, are gradually building content for Instagram and other platforms, and use external sales partners to increase our reach. We also attend energy trade shows such as EES in Munich or VoltaX in Stuttgart. Formats like the startup profile are particularly valuable, as they make our story visible and build trust.
How did you secure funding for your startup?
We launched the company with our own funds and financed the rest through grants and ongoing projects to ensure the sustainable implementation of our ideas.
What dream do you still want to realize?
Our dream is to strengthen Hesse as a business location and, together with German partners, tap into global markets with state-of-the-art energy products.
Please complete the following sentence: If we had more time, we would
probably spend much more (free) time with our families and friends.
What is your special tip: What would you recommend to founders? Be sure to check for funding
opportunities before starting up. Then: Start boldly, take action, constantly adapt and evolve—there are always ways forward.
