Chamber music in Wiesbaden: Quatuor Agate
The quartet "Quatuor Agate" from France will play works by Mozart, Tailleferre and Korngold on Sunday, October 5, at the Casino-Gesellschaft in Wiesbaden starting at 5 pm.
The Quatuor Agate was founded in 2016 and owes its name to one of the most beautiful works of chamber music literature - the second string sextet by Johannes Brahms, which he dedicated to his second great love, Agathe von Siebold. In the same year, they founded the CorsiClassic festival, which has been held every year since then in Ajaccio on Corsica.
After initial successes at international string quartet competitions, they were selected by the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) in London in 2021, followed by their appointment as an ECHO Rising Star in 2023.The quartet regularly collaborates with outstanding musicians and ensembles, including Emmanuel Pahud, Leif Ove Andsnes, Enrico Pace, Éric Le Sage, the Kronos Quartet, the Quatuor Ebène and the Quatuor Modigliani. The quartet is currently Artist in Residence at the Fondation Singer-Polignac, Principal Resident Ensemble at ProQuartet in Paris and Associate Artist at La Brèche Festival.
Adrien Jurkovic plays a violin attributed to Giuseppe Giovanni Guarneri, generously loaned to him by Dr. Peter Hauber, and Thomas Descamps plays a violin by Giovanni Battista Ceruti, kindly loaned to him by Irene R. Miller through the Beares International Violin Society.
