Christa Moering Scholarship 2011

The jury selects the actress Franziska Werner as the winner of the Christa Moering Scholarship 2011 in the field of acting.

The scholarship for female artists, established in recognition of Wiesbaden artist and honorary citizen Christa Moering, was awarded for the third time. This time, the aim was to honor artistic achievement in the field of drama.

The selection committee appointed for this purpose included Rose-Lore Scholz, Head of the Department of Culture, Gabriela Schuchalter-Eicke and Helmut Nehrbaß, Beatrix Klein from the "frauen museum wiesbaden" as well as independent Wiesbaden director Iris Gerath-Prein and dramaturge Sibylle Baschung from Schauspiel Frankfurt.

After a thorough assessment of all the documents submitted, the jury focused on a shortlist of particularly convincing applicants. In this context, the jury gratefully acknowledges the expert support of Iris Gerath-Prein and Sibylle Baschung.

The jury selects the actress Franziska Werner as the winner of the Christa Moering Scholarship 2011 and explains its decision: Franziska Werner has an extraordinary acting talent. She has the gift of slipping into a wide variety of roles, merging completely with them and still leaving a glimmer of her own personality visible. She has a special kind of humor and gives her characters their own complexity.

Franziska Werner was born in Berlin in 1981. She studied acting at the Max Reinhard Seminar in Vienna from 2001 to 2005. After completing her studies, she had her first direct engagement at Theater Oberhausen. Since the 2008/09 season, Franziska Werner has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden. She has lent her voice to various radio plays and radio features.

The scholarship is awarded to women for their artistic achievements with the aim of promoting their further artistic development. Franziska Werner has many talents and ideas - the audience can look forward to seeing how the prizewinner will use the prize money and what presentation she will surprise the Wiesbaden audience with.
