Christa Moering Scholarship 2026

The state capital of Wiesbaden is awarding the 2026 Christa Moering Scholarship to composer and sound artist Danbi Jeung. The scholarship is awarded every two years in memory of the Wiesbaden painter and honorary citizen Christa Moering (1916–2013) to support artists and is endowed with 10,000 euros.

Artists whose place of residence, work, or birth is Wiesbaden were eligible to apply for the scholarship, which focused on the theme “Metropolis: Dystopia and Utopia.” The exhibition associated with the scholarship will be presented in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of Fritz Lang’s silent film “Metropolis,” the rights to which are held by the F.W. Murnau Foundation in Wiesbaden.

The five-member jury consisted of: Monique Behr (Visual Arts Specialist), Dr. Peter Forster (Museum Wiesbaden), Valentine Goldmann (Wiesbaden Women’s Museum), Titus Grab (artist), and Dr. Hendrik Schmehl (Head of the Cultural Affairs Department).

After an in-depth discussion, the scholarship was unanimously awarded to Jeung. She impressed the jury with her intelligent and humorous approach, which is grounded in keen powers of observation. Through her sound art and installation-based practice, she will create a contemporary reflection on society that can be understood as a modern commentary on the film “Metropolis.”
