The jury of the Christa Moering Scholarship awarded by the state capital of Wiesbaden has chosen filmmaker Stella Tinbergen as the winner in the film category. Established in recognition of Wiesbaden artist and honorary citizen Christa Moering, the artist scholarship honors a special artistic achievement. This time, the prize, endowed with 5,000 euros, was awarded in the film category.
Stella Tinbergen had applied with an exposé for the documentary film "Hanna Bekker vom Rath - Ambassador of Art", which she would like to realize as part of the scholarship. She submitted the film "Otto Ritschl - Das Leuchten der Farbe" as an example of her artistic work.
The jury selected filmmaker Stella Tinbergen as the winner of the Christa Moering Scholarship and explained its decision: The artistic approach with which Stella Tinbergen approaches a subject is remarkable. She has the gift of being able to bring out the facets of a person and the development of a personality from different angles in an impressive cinematic way. Since 2007, several remarkable documentaries about historical personalities from the worlds of art and science have been produced or are still in progress. In addition, the documentary film about Hanna Bekker vom Rath and her connection to Jawlensky is of great importance to the city of Wiesbaden. With the realization of the film, this extraordinary person will finally receive the publicity she deserves.
With the change in the award guidelines, men were also allowed to apply for the coveted prize for the first time and exactly the same number of applications were received from both genders. Christa Moering's consent was obtained before the guidelines were changed. Satisfied that her initiative to open the scholarship to men has had the desired success, she is nevertheless pleased that a woman was able to convince the jury with her performance.
Stella Tinbergen was born in Wiesbaden in 1956. After studying at the Graz School of Art and the Vienna Film Academy, she worked as a production manager and editor for various television stations before finally settling in Wiesbaden as a freelance director and filmmaker.
