Livelihood

The citizen's allowance includes services (e.g. advice) and benefits for living expenses.

Benefits for living expenses include

  • Standard requirements to cover living expenses (food, clothing, personal hygiene, household effects, household energy, everyday necessities and, to a reasonable extent, relationships with the environment and participation in cultural life).
  • Costs of accommodation and heating
  • Health and long-term care insurance contributions
  • Additional requirements for pregnancy or single parenthood, for example
  • One-off assistance, for example for initial equipment for births or for the first home
Group of persons

As of January 01, 2024

Single persons and single parents 563 euros
Spouses, life partners 506 euros
Adult beneficiaries without their own household 451 euros
Young people from the age of 15 to the age of 18 471 euros
Children from the age of 7 to the age of 14 390 euros
Children up to the age of 6 357 euros

Children and young people aged 0 to 25 who are not in employment and live in their parents' household also receive a child emergency supplement of EUR 20 per month in addition to the standard requirement until the introduction of a basic child benefit.
