Three stations in the city center

The lectures will take place at three central locations at 2 pm, 2.30 pm and 3 pm:

  • Schlossplatz (meeting point: main portal Marktkirche)
  • Old Town Hall (meeting point: stairs)
  • New Town Hall (meeting point: main entrance)

Visitors are free to choose the order in which they wish to visit and can switch between the stations. Registration is not required. Participation is free of charge.

At each stop, the municipal monument conservators will report on the history of the buildings and their conservation work. The lectures show how Wiesbaden has changed as a result of war damage, new architectural styles and changes in use.

In case of rain, all lectures will take place in the New Town Hall.

Motto "Full of value"

The nationwide Open Monument Day in 2025 will be held under the motto "Valuable: priceless or irreplaceable? What are our monuments worth?". The focus is on the question of the significance of historical buildings today.

Monument owners, monument conservators, restorers and craftsmen, architects and engineers working in the field of monument conservation will report on their work and make our architectural heritage visible and tangible.

The contribution from Wiesbaden's Lower Monument Conservation Authority uses the example of the city center to show the cultural and historical value of monuments and the challenges facing monument conservation.
