Municipal bus services
Wiesbaden's current urban bus network is based on a network concept from 1969, which has been continuously adapted and expanded over time. The bus network currently comprises 43 routes.
ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft is the main operator of the city bus routes in Wiesbaden and thus provides the majority of local public transport.
In addition, there are so-called joint lines - lines 6, 9, 33 and 74 - which operate in both Wiesbaden and Mainz. These lines are operated jointly by ESWE Verkehr and Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG). Lines 54 to 58, which operate in the Wiesbaden districts of Mainz-Kastel and Mainz-Kostheim, are part of the Mainz city bus network and are operated exclusively by MVG.
The range of municipal bus services in Wiesbaden includes various bus products to meet different mobility requirements:
- City bus services: Regular scheduled services within Wiesbaden
- Express bus services: Accelerated city bus routes that enable shorter travel times by skipping individual stops and using expressways and highways in the city area
- On-demand services (call-and-collect cab, AST): Flexible on-demand services in the outer districts and beyond, especially on connections with low demand potential
- School bus services (e-trips): Special routes for transporting schoolchildren on routes where there is no regular scheduled service
- Night bus services (Nightliner): Additional service after midnight with different routes compared to daytime services, which take more circuitous routes in favor of better accessibility
