Phantoms in the GFL2
The Wiesbaden Phantoms will once again play in the German Football League 2 (GFL2) in the 2026 season. After four wins, the Phantoms landed their next victory in the top game in Montabaur with a 16:17 win. They continue on June 20 at home against the Biberach Beavers.
Second round opener at the Biberach Beavers
After a brief summer break, the Wiesbaden Phantoms kick off the second half of the season on Saturday, June 20. They will face the Biberach Beavers at 4 p.m. Against the team at the bottom of the standings—the Phantoms won the first match 58–0—Wiesbaden is the clear favorite. With five straight wins, Head Coach Patrick Griesheimer’s Phantoms have gotten off to a perfect start to the season: 58–0 in Biberach, 38-33 against the promoted Augsburg Centurions, 32-11 at the Gießen Golden Dragons, 33-14 against the Albershausen Crusaders, and a 17-16 comeback victory at the Montabaur Fighting Farmers after trailing 0-14... The Phantoms are accordingly at the top of the standings ahead of Montabaur (3-1), Giessen and Augsburg (both 2-2), Albershausen (1-3), and Biberach (0-5).

On the fifth match day, a true top-of-the-table clash was on the schedule, as the Phantoms visited the Montabaur Fighting Farmers. After a bumpy start—the Phantoms trailed 0–14 and 7–16—Head Coach Patrick Griesheimer’s Wiesbaden squad ultimately won by a narrow margin of 17–16 and head into the short summer break as league leaders.
33:14 against Albershausen Crusaders
On the fourth match day, another home game awaited the team at "Camp Lindsey." After a slow start, the Phantoms secured another decisive victory that day, defeating the syNeo Albershausen Crusaders 33–14 in the Europaviertel. With four wins in four games, they now sit at the top of the standings.
Hesse derby: 32:11 at Gießen Golden Dragons
After two opening wins in the GFL2, the Phantoms faced the Gießen Golden Dragons in the Hessian derby on the third matchday. Gießen had started the season with one win and one loss. But in the end, the Wiesbaden GFL2 footballers secured a decisive 32–11 victory in Gießen, notching up their third win in three games and sitting comfortably in the standings.
38:33 at home against Augsburg
The first home game of the season was now set to take place at "Camp Lindsey," with the Augsburg Centurions—a team newly promoted to the GFL2—as the opponents. In a closely contested match, the home team, the Phantoms, ultimately prevailed 38–33, securing their second win in their second game of the season. Let’s hope things continue this way.
Season opener: 58:0 at Biberach Beavers
The Wiesbaden Phantoms kicked off the GFL2 season with a 58-0 victory over the Biberach Beavers, avenging at least one of their two losses from 2025. The Phantoms were already leading 24-0 at halftime and showed no signs of letting up in the third and fourth quarters.
