Wiesbaden Phantoms in the GFL 2
The Wiesbaden Phantoms will play in the German Football League 2 (GFL 2) again in the 2025 season. After two recent defeats against Fursty Razorback, they went on to record a clear 42:0 victory. On the penultimate matchday, the Nürnberg Rams come to Wiesbaden on August 23
42:0 victory against Fursty Razorbacks
27:3 in the first leg in Fürstenfeldbruck, now 42:0 in front of a home crowd. The Wiesbaden Phantoms not only secured victory in the direct comparison in "Camp Lindsey" thanks to their success over the Fursty Razorbacks in GFL2, but also improved their record to 4:4 and thus secured their place in the league. The home side were already 35:0 up at half-time. The second half was then a showdown for the Wiesbaden side.
17:31 Guest appearance in Gießen
The Wiesbaden Phantoms missed out on securing their place in the GFL2 league ahead of time against the Golden Dragons in Gießen. The team of Head Coach David Gordon ultimately lost out quite clearly away from home by 17:31 (10:21). The Phantoms did not really get into the game from the outset, had to concede a return by Elloheim Tucker almost to the halfway line on the very first play and then never really got a grip on quarterback Bronson McClelland - regardless of whether the American passed, gained space himself or even scored points, as he did when the score was 20:3 at one stage. McClelland threw the 6:0 and 13:0 to Jake Höchst and Leo Kopf, while Leon Pitzki scored the two extra points. The final score was 17:31 and the Phantoms went home from the Hesse derby as losers.
Nuremberg Rams
The season continues on Saturday, August 23, at 4 p.m. with the last home game of the season against the Nürnberg Rams. Having secured their place in the league, the Phantoms can then go into the game completely relaxed.
