The "Integrated climate protection concept" for Wiesbaden
The state capital of Wiesbaden has ambitious climate protection goals. The integrated climate protection concept is the strategic basis for implementing this goal. The concept examines and evaluates existing potential for the expansion of climate protection in various areas.
The integrated climate protection concept from 2015 was updated in 2023. It forms the basis for the city's climate protection activities.
The analysis of the current situation in terms of heating, mobility, and electricity, as well as the analysis of the potential for a heating transition, mobility transition, and electricity transition, formed the basis for this. Scenarios for the development of heat supply and for linking electricity, heating, and mobility were developed. The goals and measures are intended to increase the share of renewable energies and reduce CO2 emissions.
Experts developed the concept together with the environmental agency and other city agencies. The city has been implementing measures from the concept since 2015. The 2023 concept was transferred to the KLIMA_PLAN in 2025.
