Industrial noise is generated both in industrial production and in craft businesses where loud machines and equipment are used. The noise emitted by these facilities was recorded in Wiesbaden as part of noise reduction planning and assessed in terms of its impact on the population living in the surrounding area.

The legal basis for the reduction of industrial noise is the Federal Immission Control Act, which sets limits for the operation of production facilities, compliance with which is monitored by the State Environmental Agency.

The Technical Instructions on Noise Protection (TA Lärm) are used to assess the level of (permissible) industrial noise that is acceptable.

It specifies area-dependent guideline values that vary according to the respective area category under building planning law. The overview available for download on this page summarizes the different guideline values and presents them in relation to the relevant immission location outside buildings.
